About the Role
MGT is hiring an Operations Manager to join our AI Operating Group (AI OG). The AI OG is responsible for both internal AI tool development and client-facing AI solution delivery, primarily serving the state and local government market.
This is a connective tissue role. The AI OG moves fast, and we need someone who can keep the team running smoothly behind the scenes so our builders and consultants can stay focused on delivery. You will own the operational infrastructure of the group: recruiting, staffing, financial tracking, and process management. The right person for this role is organized, proactive, and comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-moving environment.
What You'll Do
  • Lead recruiting operations for the AI OG, including candidate pipeline management, interview coordination, scorecard tracking, and offer logistics
  • Own staffing operations, including tracking team capacity, supporting resource allocation decisions, and maintaining visibility into who is working on what
  • Manage hours auditing and financial reporting across the group, ensuring accuracy in time tracking systems and flagging variances for leadership
  • Build and maintain operational processes, templates, and documentation that scale as the team grows
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding workflows for team members
  • Support project leads with operational logistics on active client engagements
  • Serve as a point of contact for cross-functional coordination between the AI OG and broader MGT teams
  • Identify process gaps and proactively propose solutions before they become problems
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in operations, project coordination, or a similar role; consulting or professional services environment preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with a track record of managing multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Experience with recruiting coordination or HR operations
  • Familiarity with time tracking or resource management tools and financial reporting processes
  • Excellent communication skills; you will work across all levels of the organization, from analysts to senior leadership
  • High attention to detail and a bias toward documentation and process clarity
  • Ability to operate independently and make sound judgment calls with minimal oversight
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a technical or consulting team in an operational capacity
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) or recruiting platforms
  • Exposure to staffing models, utilization tracking, or professional services finance
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-changing environments where the playbook is still being written
What Success Looks Like
  • Within 30 days: You have a clear picture of current recruiting pipelines, team capacity, and hours tracking workflows. You have identified at least one process gap and proposed a fix.
  • Within 90 days: You are running recruiting and staffing operations independently and financial reporting is accurate and on time without requiring leadership follow-up.
  • Within 6 months: You have built out scalable operational infrastructure for the group and are a trusted resource for both team members and leadership on anything ops-related.
